BLC 3 Hydropower Station Contract signed in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar

With the instruction and support of the leaders from the related departments and organizations such as Chinese Embassy in Myanmar, China EXIM Bank and the Chamber of Commerce, Union Resources & Engineering Co., Ltd. had won in the bidding of BLC 3 Hydropower Station Construction Project while the contract was signed between UREC and Ministry of Electric Power No. (1), Union of Myanmar, in Nay Pyi Taw on the 28th January, 2011.

BLC 3 is the third and lowest stage of the three-staged chain hydropower stations designed and planned to be built over the BLC River. It is about 25 kilometers to the south-east of Loikaw, the capital of Kayah and located at the right bank of the down stream of the BLC River, the upper stream of which is directly connected with the tail water of BLC 2 Hydropower Station. BLC 3 is approximately 5.25 kilometers from the meeting point of the down stream of the BLC River and the Nam Pawn River. The hydro power stored by Moybe Reservoir can be exploited and utilized through this station at the down stream, which has significant influence on Myanmar electrical system especially in the seasons of drought.
