On October 7, 2004, UREC signed a contract on supply of a complete
set of hydro-mechanical equipment and technical services for Tuyen Quang
Hydropower Plant (TQ HPP) with Song Da Corporation, a large-sized state
owned construction enterprise directly under the Ministry of
Construction of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
Situated in Tuyen Quang Province and about 300km away from Hanoi, Tuyen Quang Hydropower Plant has a total installed capacity of 340MW (3X114MW) and total hydraulic steel structures supplied by UREC is around 7300 tons, including plain gates and radial gates for 6 inlets (6m×12m) of the power intake, 8 bottom outlets (4.5m×6m) and 4 surface outlets (14.5m×11m) of the spillway, three steel penstocks with a diameter of 7.5m, 18 sets of hydraulic hoists and 3 sets of gantry cranes.
Tuyen Quang Hydropower Plant is the largest hydropower plant ever built in Vietnam with a total investment of several billion US dollars. As a national key project, the Vietnamese Government appointed a vice premier to supervise its construction quality and progress, and national media covered this Project periodically. Under the condition of short construction period and intense fabrication volume, UREC delivered the equipment on time and with high quality so as to ensure the construction milestones such as water retaining of power intake and spillway. In cooperation with civil work contractor, UREC completed “impossible” works and the Employer spoke highly of the work style of UREC. UREC also established long-term cooperative relations with the Employer - Electricity of Viet Nam and General Contractor – Song Da Corporation through this Project.
